At the 2015 Paris conference, at which the agreement was negotiated, developed countries reaffirmed their commitment to mobilize $100 billion a year to finance climate by 2020 and agreed to continue mobilizing $100 billion a year by 2025.  The commitment refers to the existing plan to allocate $100 billion per year to developing countries for climate change adaptation and climate change mitigation.  The Paris Agreement reflects the collective belief of almost every nation on the planet that climate change is humanity`s war to combat it, and reveals America`s climate-sceptics - including Trump - as global outliers. Indeed, the mobilization of support for climate action across the country and around the world gives hope that the Paris Agreement has marked a turning point in the fight against climate change.
We can all contribute to the cause by looking for ways to reduce contributions to global warming, at the individual, local and national levels. The effort will be worth the reward of a safer and cleaner world for future generations. The Paris Agreement establishes a global framework to prevent dangerous climate change by limiting global warming to a level well below 2 degrees Celsius and by making efforts to limit it to 1.5 degrees Celsius. It also aims to strengthen countries` capacity to cope with the effects of climate change and to assist them in their efforts. The Paris Agreement provides for a number of binding procedural obligations. The parties are committed to preparing, communicating and maintaining successive NDCs; "domestic mitigation measures" to achieve their NDCs; report regularly on their emissions and on progress in implementing their NDCs. The agreement also provides that the successive NDCs of each party "will represent a progression" beyond their previous one and "reflect its highest possible ambitions." Obtaining their NDC by a party is not a legally binding obligation. "A safer, safer, more prosperous and freer world." In December 2015, President Barack Obama envisioned leaving today`s children when he announced that the United States, along with nearly 200 other countries, had committed to the Paris Climate Agreement, an ambitious global action plan to combat climate change. The 2015 Paris Climate Change Conference (COP 21) catalyzed an unprecedented vision of combating climate change and engagement by a wide range of non-state actors, including businesses and investors, sub-national governments and civil society organizations.
